Whakatāne Kiwi Trust Kids Night Walks 2026
Kids night walks – every second Thursday starting April, 9 at 5:30pm
Starting Thursday, 9 April, and continuing every second Thursday at 5:30pm, the Whakatane Kiwi Trust will host night walks from April to July, the best season to hear kiwi calling.
Join us to learn about the local kiwi population and the work of dedicated volunteers protecting this national icon and other native taonga. While it is unlikely that participants will see a wild kiwi, their calls are often heard, along with other native birds such as weka and ruru (morepork).
The walks also offer opportunities to discover other fascinating wildlife, including wētā, tunnel web spiders, harvestmen, peripatus, glow-in-the-dark fungi, and glow worms. This is a great way for families and children in Whakatane to explore nature and learn about conservation.
Adult $20, Kids $10, Family pass $50 (2x adults, 2 x kids) + booking fees
