• Mahy Reserve

There are a number of playgrounds to choose from at Ohope Beach. For little kids, big kids and adults, you will find something for everyone.

Mahy Reserve
Location: bottom of the Ohope Hill (Ohope Road), Ohope. Parking is off West End Road and on Pohutukawa Road.

Here you will find a well equipped playground by the beach and the shops. Grab an ice cream or take a break from the surf and relax under the majestic Pohutukawa trees.

Mahy Reserve is located at the bottom of the hill between Whakatane and Ohope Beach. Here you will find the surf lifesaving club who provide a ‘swim between the flags’ service in summer. Mahy Reserve is a great place for picnics and has electric barbecues and tables placed for both sun and shade. Huge Pohutukawa trees provide ample shade.

Maraetotara Reserve

The playground with the flying fox and a pirate ship is well known to kids! There is also a skate ramp, swings, slides and everything you would expect at a playground. There are electric barbecues and toilets. Kids often spend hours playing in the Maraetotara Stream mouth just by the playground.

Harbour Road Playground
