JUSTICE OF THE PEACE

Looking for a Justice of the Peace in Ohope Beach? JP's provide important functions in the administration of documentation and justice in our community. Ohope Beach Duty Doctor

OHOPE BEACH DUTY DOCTOR - PHARMACY

If you feel unwell or have concerns about your health, dont wait to see if things get better. They might get worse and your local surgery may be closed.
To see the (Weekend and Public Holidays) Duty Doctor you now go to the Emergency Room at Whakatane Hospital,  Stewart St 10am - 4 pm. There will be a GP working from a room at the Emergency Department during these hours.

The Ohope Beach library is run by volunteers from our local Ohope Beach community. Here you will find books for the whole family and some books for sale too. Membership at the Ohope Beach Library is Free, you can use the same card at all Whakatane District Libraries.

Whakatane and Ohope Beach are well known for their large amount of sunshine hours each year. Previously known as the Sunshine Capital of New Zealand, Whakatane came close in the race for the most sunshine hours but didn't keep the title in 2016.

Ohope Fire Brigade

OHOPE FIRE BRIGADE

The Ohope Fire Brigade is a Volunteer Brigade that services the Ohope township and surrounding areas within the Eastern Bay of Plenty, New Zealand.

The brigade currently has 14 very dedicated members, many have served in the brigade for a number of years & some have joined in recent times. We all live within the Ohope community and are either employed in town or outside of the district. 

The Ohope Beach Fire Station is situated next to the Ohope Library.

RECYCLING FACILITIES

Whakatane Airport

WHAKATANE AIRPORT

Whakatane Airport is approx 20 minutes from Ohope beach and offer five direct daily flights to Whakatane to and from Auckland via Air Chathams with a flight time of 45 minutes.

Sunair offer same day return flights from Whakatane – Gisborne & Hamilton.  

Rental Cars can be made available from Whakatane Airport office and shuttle services are available by pre-booking.

Operating from the Whakatane Airport are Frontier Helicopters and White Island Flights.

WHAKATANE DISTRICT COUNCIL

The Whakatane District Council serves Whakatāne, Ōhope, Tāneatua, Edgecumbe, Matatā, Murupara and other communities throughout the Whakatāne District. The council provides a range of services including Animal Control, Civil Defence, Water Services, Roads and Footpaths and much more. 

Whakatane District Council facilities include the Whakatane Aquatic Centre, Whakatāne Horizon Energy Library at Te Kōputu a te whanga a Toi, Whakatane Museum and a range of Parks and public spaces.

SPCA Whakatane

WHAKATANE SPCA

Whakatane SPCA Animal Centre in Gateway Crescent is open to the public Monday to Saturday from 9am to 11.30am. Volunteers provide a 24 hour, 7 day, on call service to the community.  The Animal Centre is a safe haven for abused, neglected or unwanted animals awaiting new homes.  The SPCA works to prevent cruelty to animals through enforcement of the Animal Welfare Act, education and promotion of responsible pet ownership.
